Today, as I celebrate my daughter Megan’s 28th birthday, I’m reflecting on the profound ways her life has shaped mine. When Megan was born with Down syndrome, it was unexpected, and at the time, I had no idea how much she would transform me.
Before she came into my life, I was in a career in marketing research—an inauthentic path that I didn’t really dislike, even though I hate math, but deep down I knew it was not my lifelong dream. But Megan’s arrival was the catalyst I needed to re-evaluate everything. She opened my eyes to what really matters and gave me the courage to leave behind a life that didn’t resonate with me.
Her presence inspired me to pursue my passion for helping others, and today, I’m proud to be a social skills coach. Megan taught me how to live authentically, with purpose and heart, and she continues to inspire me every day. This is a video about when unexpected events happen, they can lead to personal growth and transformation. I hope it inspires you to reflect on how unexpected challenges in your life can lead to beautiful new beginnings.
