Friendships begin as acquaintances and, over time, the potential friends share more and more positive experiences. The begin to realize that they have things in common, enjoy being with that person, and might have even have shared a belly laughed at some point. As people become familiar with one another, there is a point where they might want to see if the other person wants to hang out.

Asking someone to hang out as friends for the first time can feel intimidating. Many worry that they will be rejected if they ask, especially if they have been rejected in the past. This week’s tip is intended to make that step feel less scary.
